Nestled in a small cove on the Caribbean Sea in the “Heart of the Riviera Maya" on the Yucatan Peninsula, Paamul provides year-round enjoyment and tranquility to its residents and visitors. It is located just 50 miles from Cancun airport and 12 miles south of Playa del Carmen (Google Earth 20.31-87.11). Playa del Carmen boasts several malls and shopping centers (including Wal-Mart and Sams Club), theaters, a new bowling alley and many grocery and clothing stores. There is a hospital only 10 miles from Paamul and several other hospitals and clinics in Playa del Carmen.
Paamul has much to offer. You might want to spend your afternoons snorkeling out to the reef in our protected bay, enjoy a dive offered by the local dive shop or sit by the pool and enjoy a margarita and meal from our world class restaurant. Over 25 years ago about 6 couples came down to the Cancun area in RV’s. They found this small cove and approached the owner about parking and camping on their beach. At the time it was an aging coconut grove. The owner, a mother and her young son, said yes. Now you have to remember there wasn’t a “Riviera Maya” back then, only primitive jungle. Through the years these RV’ers came back and they told their friends. Quite a few people decided to leave their trailers here year round and fly down for a couple months at a time. Soon a dive shop opened, then a restaurant, and people started to cover their trailers with palapas to protect them from the sun. Paamul is a full service trailer and RV park, still owned by the now grown up son with his wife and family. Paamul has also been designated a “National Turtle Reserve”. There is nothing else like this on the Caribbean Coast of Mexico or for that matter in the USA.
